Corporate Outrigger Challenge ....
Achieve Business and Recruitment Solutions and the Magnetic Island Outrigger Canoe Club ( MIOCC ) combined forces to bring outrigging to the corporate world.
In long canoes with a stabilising outrigger holding six paddlers and a steerer reminisant of Hawaiian long boats from the Captain Cook era, teams have to learn how to work as a team and with the conditions at hand - often waves and wind combined!
- 2009 - Crews started racing from the shoreline with the crew in the boat and held by the streerer waiting for the starters flag to drop - once underway through the increasing swell as the day progressed, crews made a beeline towards Maggie Island, out around the turning buoys (approx. 500 meters offshore) and then back for the sprint home, and once beached, "number 1" jumping out for a short 20 meter sprint to cross the line to claim victory (or just be pipped at the post ....).
- 2008 - Launching off the Strand and with Maggie as backdrop, crews paddle out to the start line and wait for the signal for the 300 meter 'dash back to the beach'; upon arrival to terra firma, 'number 1' jumps out for the last beach sprint to the line to claim victory (or just be pipped at the post ....).
With 25 teams from across the entire business sector of Townsville, the day was wet, windy, and above all else a day of smiles and laughter.
With all crews racing in heats throughout the morning, points were allocated for each crews place in each of their races for a chance to race for the 'Achieve Corporate Outrigging Challenge' trophy (and $1000.00 cash!!); the final was given some added 'spice' with the opportunity to 'buy your crew into the 'sixth boat' in the final ....
No such corporate activity would be complete with 'post race' de-brief after a wet 'n' wild day of racing thanks to an ever increasing wind .... - 2009 - Picnic Bay Surlf Lifesaving Club

Viewing an individual image will display the price (and other various purchase options - digital or print, size, quantity etc) for each individual image :- Digital file – AUS $25.00 each
- Presentation Team Print (8 x 10 PRINT ONLY) – AUS $30.00 each
- Postage – AUS $10.00
- Discounts – order 5+ of any image/size combination – 15% discount and free postage (will be calculated at "checkout" automatically)
- Digital Images will be mailed to you on a CD/DVD
- Prints will be mailed in a flat photo folder
